"Call of Culture - In Quest of Dialogue" by Hassan Dennaoui on 27 November 2013
In this article, a man by the name of Mohammad Bakhrieba has created a movement to clear the blurriness between cultures, to clear up the differences. This initiative is known as "Call of Culture". The article then goes on in an interview style with the Saudi national who has created the movement. This movement has taken him to become a UN Representative, which is an honor for any man or woman alike. Prior to becoming the UN Representative, he brought the idea to the UN itself where it was widely accepted. The Saudi government and media have also accepted this idea, however they (Bakhrieba's organization) were surprised by the international media more so than the Saudi people.
In my eyes it can be a very good thing for people to finally clear the water as to what their culture actually is. However, this could also lead to radical sects forming in individual communities. The purpose of this whole movement is to bring people together. But when you create sects like this might do, conflict can erupt. A good example of this is the conflicts in the middle east. Two different cultures clash and it creates world wide implications.
In Saudi Arabia people usually share the same culture. For a Saudi national to create this movement for all cultures really shows how the technological age is trying to bring people together. I'm sure that Mr. Bakhrieba has good intentions for this project not only for his country, but all countries and cultures out there. This also shows the toleration for other cultures, which is something that the Saudis and most other middle eastern countries have not shown in the past.
